Welcome to the new Preserved Diesels Website!

Tim Farmer had the vision and created the Original Preserved Diesels Website back in 2001. The website was extremely popular and became the one stop shop to visit for news, gen, photos, galleries and technical information via the Forum and Suppliers List. Tim handed over the website to myself and Matt Stodden when he no longer had the time to maintain the site.

Family and work commitments saw PD move over to Facebook which has generally been very positive.

Thanks to a few donations towards the hosting and running costs and a big dip into my own pocket, the New Website is now up and running and aims to continue on from the Original Site in content and authority. Thanks to the Donators who have helped to make this possible.

The website also includes locomotives owned by preservation groups as well as railway companies who operate locomotives on the national railway network.

Despite the title of the website some locos included are not ‘preserved’ but are in private ownership as working locos. It is not the intention of this website to provide a definitive list as to what is ‘preserved’ but only to compile a pictorial record of former BR locomotives, still in existence, that are likely to work or have worked on the heritage railway network in the UK.

Please use the links above to navigate the site.
